Hi dear readers and listeners! We are very happy to share our first videoclip with you!
“Agni’s Dynasty (Fire I)” is the single of our second music production “Solar Time’s Fables” which was published two months ago through DarkTunes music group. Now you may enjoy this song through a visual perspective and we hope you like it!
The video concept
The lyrics of this song are inspired by the Indian god Agni who represents the energy of the fire in the Vedic literature and also means literally “fire” in Sanskrit. We created a complete new story from it to give our videoclip that interesting touch. You can read the complete description on this link.
If you already watched the videoclip you might have noticed that there’s a new drummer playing. Sepp Coeck is our new session drummer. He joined us two weeks after Maxime Moreira decided to leave the band. His decision took us by surprise because we didn’t see it coming but Max had his reasons to take this step. Here are his thoughts on the subject:
“I am really sorry for this but I don’t have the energy for this anymore and there are other personal reasons. It was my pleasure meeting you all, playing and learning with you all. Thank you for the great times. I hope that we can still meet each other sometime at a concert and grab a drink together. Again deeply sorry Isabel and thank you for understanding”.
The fact is that Max recorded a gorgeous album along with us so we are very thankful for that. We wish him success and happiness with his new choices in life. If you didn’t have the opportunity to watch his performance, visit our YouTube channel and take a look at our first studio diary episode or go to a gig of his Death Metal band named Anthrophagus.

So in order to give you the right perspective of “what’s cooking”, here you have his personal opinion about us: When I first heard that Fabulae Dramatis were looking for a drummer, I started the same way I always do: checking their background. I don’t want to cocky and don’t want to sound like “I’m the best drummer ever”, but I do get a lot of requests for playing the drums in a band. Mostly I turn them down ‘cause I couldn’t find anything that makes those bands unique. I am someone who wants to challenge myself and try things that make me evolve as a musician.
Fabulae Dramatis has some kind of a spark that few bands have. I already know we will have a hard time to find appropriate moments to rehearse. But I am sure that if they have the right amount of patience with me (I do have a stuffed agenda with a few bands and a few jobs), that this can turn out to be something beautiful.
My first real-life contact with the other members was during the recording session of their upcoming video clip for “Agni’s Dynasty (Fire I)”, (the first track on the new upcoming album). It felt quite odd to address everyone in English at first, but I guess it’s just some kind of habitude one needs to adapt. After that came the first rehearsal,… To be honest: I have the feeling that the other members have the right professional-like attitude to make this band have the qualities that can make a band bigger than just the average band”.
We almost “hear” you thinking… Yes, indeed! We already have a release date. For now we can tell you that “Solar Time’s Fables” will bring its light in September 2017. Stay tuned for the exact date! There are more surprises to come.
In the meantime, enjoy our videoclip following this link.
Videoclip synopsis
“Agni’s Dynasty (Fire I)” – Fabulae Dramatis
Introduction The main story is based on a Hindu deity named Agni, who represents the fire energy.
Agni rides a goat that is his faithful servant. His goat represents the earth’s firepower and energy. Agni is sometimes represented with two heads and six arms that symbolizes his duality of nature of fire. Warmth and destruction. In this context, that duality is performed by two different characters, Agni and his servant goat. The rooms where these two characters act represent a “spiritual world”, a parallel dimension. Take into account that in the original story there´s no gender differentiation, however in our story both characters represented are women.
Plot
Agni’s silhouette is displayed against the curtains. Her servant goat opens a chest and gives her an insect as an offering. Agni devours it. A flame comes out of her mouth representing the power of fire that incinerates everything.
The servant goat takes a mirror out of the chest and observes her reflection. She is frightened by what she sees and offers the mirror to Agni. Agni then takes the mirror, as she gazes at herself in the mirror she doesn’t seem astonished by what she sees, given that the servant goats’ reflection is what she perceives in the mirror.
Agni asks for more objects to devour. The servant goat finds something in the chest. A puppet that seems interesting. She’s fascinated by its form and beauty because it reminds her of humanity. She falls in love with the puppet and doesn’t want to offer it to Agni. She plays with the object and seems to be happy, enjoying that short moment. Agni’s fury is visible through her eyes and holds her royal mace tight, showing her discontent.
Again, Agni demands for more objects to devour and punishes the servant with her scepter when she refuses. The puppet is thrown back in the chest and it stays there, for a while…
In the meantime, in another room, Agni and her servant goat look at themselves in another mirror. It is at this time that the servant goat realizes she is Agni’s alter ego. They sing.
To soothe and entertain the fire god´s energy/fury, the servant goat plays the harmonium in a gesture of submission. Meanwhile, the puppet (representing humanity) escapes from the chest and recovers its freedom. Agni and her servant don’t even notice it.
Further in another stay, they continue discovering their duality, looking to each other through a window and trying to merge into one new entity. In fact they become one and dance moving their multiple arms.

Hi dear readers and listeners!
We have some news for you. The final phase of our album production has come to its end! As a matter of fact we are also revealing the album’s name along with this statement: “Solar Time’s Fables”. Though you might have read this before on our social media pages…

We must say this last golden touch was a necessary final step to give the album a dark and metal character that it already has. We are absolutely mesmerized by this last music piece we created together. You will discover it by yourself soon and if you are so enthusiastic as we are you can even send us a message to info@fabulaedramatis.com to make a pre-order! If you are a music journalist and want to have more information about this upcoming album, let us know to send you a press kit. We have so many plans for this musical work that we want to share this joy with you!
The preparations to release the album have been long and deep thought. The reason: we would love to bring this album live to you! That means we will take a big step from being a studio project to become a live band. That has not been easy since we have so many guest musicians. We believe we are finding the way to stay authentic and let our musical creations shine on stage in the future. The release is planned for next year, so stay tune for the release concert.
In the meantime you can enjoy a glimpse of the mastering by watching this 0.48-second-promo-video.

“The flood has come!”…

Stone, water, fire, earth are some of the natural forces and characters that we wanted to represent on this new musical work. We are glad Beernaert managed to fulfill our musical demands as well. He put all of his effort to go further with this idea and he even added some other kind of voices than just a harsh style of singing. Surprisingly he has a gorgeous clean voice. We took some advantage of his talent to recreate some passages of our texts.
What about Thomas Hubert?
Our first growling voice, Thomas Hubert was supposed to continue with us in this new musical adventure but because of his multiple artistic and personal responsibilities he decided to quit the project. _“I’m fed up about not being able to make my engagements and it can no longer continue. I hate the fact that I have to sacrifice my passion and do compromises because of my job but I think that’s how life goes sometimes. I don’t have enough time to share between 2 bands”_.This was his definite statement and we respected it. It was really a pity to lose his talented voice but we had to look at the future and continue the recording process. After this being said we began to look for a replacement until we finally found Wesley Beernaert.

Fabulae Dramatis is progressively growing as a band.
During the composition and recording process we had the great opportunity to get to know each other. We should say coincidence does not exist at all! This new line-up has a lot in common and also a lot of differences… add the following ingredients to the cooking: a multicultural point of view, high sound quality with high standard gear and music production, talented musicians, tons of humor and you get a strong teamwork as result!
What’s new?
Maxime and Wesley integrated easily to the project and gave their personal touch to the sound. We also focused this time on harmonies and voices that flow along with the guitar. Daniel’s contribution on vocal melodies definitely made the difference on this album, according to us. We secretly suffered a bit trying to follow his unconventional vocal regulations but we had to admit that it helped a lot and that we grew a little bit more as singers! He has a graceful sense of euphony and he wanted to get more involved in the chant and choruses during the composition than just being a passive guitarist.
Dramatis Personae versus roles in the drama.
Fabulae Dramatis is about cooperating and not just taking an individual role. If you ask: is there a lead voice?… Well, not exactly! It depends on the character of the music piece. Isabel Restrepo is the founder of this project but she does not necessary play the main part on it. Hamlet, Isadora and Wesley have also plenty of parts where their voices star with tremendous connotation. The most of us composed or did arrangements in at least one music piece, wrote some line for the lyrics, programmed some soundtracks or played some instrument besides the main one. So you get a multitask group of musicians that enriched their knowledge being flexible and open to each other’s suggestions…. and that’s the only way you can grow as musician. Be creative by yourself but also accept feedback from other music fellows.
So with this in petto we let you with our last studio report. Enjoy!
Hi there! It has been a long time ago since we let you know something about our recording process, well at least through this blog. As you may notice we were publishing several videos as studio diaries. Yo can find them on our YouTube channel.
We recorded our last “clean” voices yesterday 6th december at High Lake Hill studio and we’ll be recording our powerful growling voice very soon. By the way, we have some surprises for our listeners as well.
What happened since the studio report #2?…
We recorded drums, more guitars and bass sessions, harmonium, sitar, accordion, violin, and now the second voice session. A lot happened, in fact! That’s why we did not have time to write about all of this until now. It took us already 10 months to get to this point and look back and realize that our album is almost completely recorded. We have great plans and perspectives for it and we’ll be pleased to share them with you.
Now, you will probably ask why we began to record first guitars and bass? If you follow our blogs you’d read that we were looking for a drummer for this new album. Steve Vanderperren doesn’t play for us anymore since he decided it so. We also like to discover new talented musicians in order to give a fresh musical touch to our project. So we knew it will take us long to record the new album and to replace Vanderperren’s skills. That’s why we decided to record the first guitar and bass tracks with strict metronome lines in order to have the music ideas done. The drummer should follow click tracks, programmed drums and add his own input following our melodies. Christopher Vigre (Ciffe), drummer of the Norwegian Ancestral Legacy and Isadora’s husband, recorded also the first songs for us with electric drums in order to have the musical structure and the percussive ideas. This would help the new drummer find his own way to play. We appreciate your help a lot, Ciffe! It was very useful.
After looking intensively for another drummer we found Maxime Moreira. “A double-kick-monster”, like Hamlet says. And you can actually listen to his performance and find it out by yourself here. Moreira is Anthrophagus’s drummer, a Death Metal band from Halle, Belgium. Maxime was recommended by his bandmate, Glenn Leuckx. After watching some of his videos playing drums we knew he was going to give our music the character we wanted to. Our album has his personal music discharge in our metal and not so metalish songs.

Loni Cornelis and Bram van Weverberg recorded for us also some violin and accordion session. Yes, accordion, you read it good. If you are curious about what is the result of such a combination in our music: avant-garde metal & accordion music you should stay tuned. Loni’s performance is just so sweet as her personality. You can also check this link out.
The album is expected to be released next year. The following steps are for Bart van Lier, our music producer, who’s going to take care of the edition and mixing. We are so curious as you to listen to the final result! In the meantime we enjoy the whole process a lot and we will continue publishing the studio diary episodes so that you can follow the recordings from our perspective.
You’ll find Studio Diary Episode 5 on this link!
Have a nice week dear reader/listener!
The moment has come!
The first premix versions of our upcoming album are online.
A video can say more than a bunch of words. So check it out!

Guest musicians – Veerle and Christophe

This is a detail of our new album cover designed by the talented digital artist, Marcela Bolívar.
Bolívar designed also the cover album of our debut “Om”, released in September 2012. It was for us an obvious decision to hire her talent again. We love her style and she understands our point of view very well. It is important for us to let Fabulae Dramatis’ music essence be reflected on the visuals… Marcela’s digital art has that special effect that matches our authenticity.
Stay tuned for a music preview as well… www.marcelabolivar.com
Welcome to our studio report number 2!

In this phase we achieved the first part of the album and we can’t wait to record some growlings with Thomas Hubert, our new drummer and some guest musicians (we’ll reveal their names soon)…

Stay in touch for more news about the making of Fabulae Dramatis’ second record.
Check out more pictures of the second recording sessions hier.

Special thanks to Mariya Frantseva for the group photoshoot. She has been supporting Fabulae Dramatis since the very beginning of this adventure.
Fabulae dramatis
Hi dear readers!
Fabulae Dramatis began the recording sessions yesterday 21 February 2015 at High Lake Hill Studio, Brecht – Belgium.
This second album is being produced by Bart Van Lier, guitarist of the Belgian punk band “The Agitators”.
Van Lier has 17 years experience as music producer. He Started recording demos in 1998 by hobby for the local bands with basic gear untill he decided in 2006 to upgrade his resources and become a full-time producer and owner of High Lake Hill Studio.
We are open to learn from this new experience and to work together for a strong musical album. From the Avant-Garde/progressive perspective of course, where there’s no place for genre clichés. An open-minded point of view has much more value than any other.

This first experience has been exciting and it developed in a relaxed work environment. High Lake Hill Studio is a complete high standard professional installation with outstanding gear. We felt at home during this first part of the process. A very important factor during a creative work. For sure if you stay 11 hours in studio!

Click here to see more pictures.
Thanks to our guest musicians involved in the first part of the album recording process:
Billy Mickelson (cello) – USA
Christopher Vigre (electric drums for demo versions) – Norway
Veerle Hemeryck (flute) – Belgium
Christophe Lardinois (Saxofon, orbi and djembé) – Belgium
Loni Cornelis (violin) – Belgium
We hope we can give you soon a little bit of the taste of this new upcoming creation …
Hi, there!
We are very happy to announce that we had our last rehearsing today before we enter the studio.
Bart Van Lier is going to be our producer this time at High Lake Hill Studio. We’re sure he will give a wide and professional perspective to this new upcoming album. He understands our point of view and respects our style and that’s something that encourages us to trust him and go for this new exciting adventure!
Here you have some of the captured moments of today’s rehearsing:
.
Wait for our studio reports soon!
Hi, dear Fabulae Dramatis listeners!
“Welcome to the ‘darkside’, we have cookies!”…
This is what our Isadora Cortina told me when I gave her the names of our new guest musicians. I found this quote very funny and I couldn’t stop laughing. In sort way ’cause it’s true. I remember that we actually have cookies most of the times and some other delicious food and snacks during our rehearsing or composition sessions. So that we make our guests and ourselves feel good in this creation process. This is our hobby and we really enjoy making music . That’s why we want you to follow this process from our perspective… so here you have some news about the upcoming album. (Isabel Restrepo).
Our second music album is getting defined in the process. As you know from the first album “Om”, we love to experiment and to search new fresh perspectives. That’s why we are constantly looking for new guest musicians who like to share their sound with us in order to make a total different piece of music together.
We officially announce some of the guest musicians for the upcoming album (in order of appereance):
Veerle Hemerlyck, flute.
Christophe Lardinois, orbi.

Those are the versions that a drummer here in Belgium is going to follow when we enter studio.
We are looking forward to bring you more news about this creative process that promisses to be professionally produced and directly from our heart!
Fabulae Dramatis.
